Cooking team building in Bristol that teams actually enjoy
No trust falls, no raft building. Your team cooks together, then sits down at long communal tables and eats what they made.

Teams we've cooked with
Cooking It runs hands-on corporate team-building events at 37 Gloucester Road, Bishopston, Bristol. Teams choose a competitive cook-off or a collaborative menu, cook with a chef, then eat together at communal tables.
Why cooking works for team building
Cooking works as a team activity because everyone has a clear job, the group has to communicate, and the finished meal gives you a natural reason to sit down together.
People divide up tasks, share equipment and make decisions with the clock running. Everyone ends up with a job, which is usually the point: the quiet ones are chopping something rather than watching from the side.
You are in a working cookery school for this, not a meeting room with a box of props. A chef runs the session, and there is a table laid for you at the end of it.
Competitive cook-off or collaborative cooking
There are two ways to run the day, and the right one depends on what your team actually needs from it. A competitive cook-off suits sales teams, mixed departments and groups that want energy and a clear winner: teams work in brigades, take on a challenge and present their food for judging. Collaborative cooking suits teams rebuilding trust, integrating new starters, or wanting a relaxed away day. Everyone works towards one menu, with jobs shared across the kitchen. Sessions are designed for mixed levels of kitchen confidence, and the chef sets the jobs accordingly.
Packages and prices
These are the 2026 prices. Every package is a minimum spend, not a per-head fee. It covers the stated number of guests, and you add the listed rate for each extra guest. All prices exclude VAT, which is added at 20 percent on your invoice.
| Package | Time | Minimum spend | Extra guest | Cuisine and format |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kitchen Porter | 2 hours | £500 up to 10 guests | £40 pp | Brunch club, curry night or Mexican street food |
| Platers | 2.5 hours | £650 up to 10 guests | £45 pp | Tapas and mezze, small cakes, curries or Mexican street food |
| Commi ChefMost popular | 3 hours | £775 up to 10 guests | £50 pp | Italian, Asian curries, Mediterranean mezze, Persian or tapas challenge, mystery bag or bake off |
| Sous Chef | 3.5 hours | £950 up to 12 guests | £65 pp | International cuisines, mystery bag, or the great Persian or tapas challenge |
| Premium Head Chef | 4 hours | £1,300 up to 12 guests | £100 pp | Michelin-style technical challenge, international feasts, mystery bag or bake off |
| Cake Decorating | 1 hr 45 | £450 up to 10 guests | £40 pp | Buttercream design, piping, sprinkles and creative artistry |
| The Great Bake Off | 3 hours | £650 up to 12 guests | £40 pp | Bake from scratch, decorate, and take your creations home |
Which package fits your group
Corporate bookings are for 10 to 34 people, and the in-house venue seats up to 34. Each package states the headcount its minimum spend covers, and every guest beyond that is charged at the extra guest rate, so the cost per head falls as the group grows. Excluding VAT:
- 14 guests: Kitchen Porter £660, Platers £830, Commi Chef £975
- 20 guests: Kitchen Porter £900, Platers £1,100, Commi Chef £1,275
- 30 guests: Kitchen Porter £1,300, Platers £1,550, Commi Chef £1,775
So a real invoice looks like this. Twenty guests on Commi Chef is £1,275, VAT adds £255, and the total is £1,530. Drinks, aprons, hats and washing-up sit on top of that if you want them.
What the price does not include
The package covers a chef-led session, exclusive use of the venue, music, cooking together and sitting down to eat what you cooked at communal tables. These are priced separately:
- VAT at 20 percent
- Drinks from the licensed bar, or bring your own at £8.50 per person
- Apron hire at £5 per person and hat hire at £2.50 per person
- Washing-up service from £150, by group size
- A £150 supplement for Friday and Saturday evenings on the Kitchen Porter and Platers packages
- Optional mezze catering at £22 per person or canapés at £25 per person, which can be added to any package
- A £250 formal cooking class upgrade, which turns an informal cook-off into a taught class
The Head Chef package includes one glass of fizz on arrival and unlimited soft drinks.
Cook-off challenges
Your chef explains the brief, divides the work and keeps the timing moving. Teams cook, plate and present their food before judging and the meal. Choose one challenge or combine a few: the mystery bag, where you work with a set of ingredients and decide together what to make; the Persian or Tapas Challenge; blind taste tests; plating under chef judging; and speed rounds against the clock.
Turn it into a full afternoon
Murder Mystery Games are £500 and Sip and Paint is £600. Musical Bingo and Karaoke are each from £150, and The Infiltrator, our photo and video content session, is from £200. Optional catering can cover the wider booking: mezze at £22 per person or canapés at £25 per person, added to any package.
