Argentinian cooking class Bristol: a group cooking together at Cooking It

Argentinian cooking class Bristol

A hands-on Argentinian evening at 37 Gloucester Road, Bishopston. £75 a person, with a shared meal at the end.

Our Argentinian cooking class in Bristol runs at Cooking It, 37 Gloucester Road, Bishopston, Bristol BS7 8AD. It is hands-on, capped at 12 people, with ingredients, equipment and aprons provided.

Cooking It is an independent cookery school founded and run by Monica Worsley, teaching for about ten years. You cook the recipes, then sit at the long communal tables and eat them together. The class is £75 a person, and you can ask us for the current session's menu before booking. Booking is on the Argentinian cookery class page.

What you'll cook

Classic Argentinian recipes, with the exact menu set for each session and available on request before you book.

As a cuisine, Argentinian home cooking is known for beef, chimichurri, empanadas and dulce de leche, and asado, the Argentinian barbecue, is part of the culture. Argentinian cooking has heavy Italian and Spanish influence, alongside a strong asado culture. Those are general descriptions of the cuisine, not dishes promised for a given date. What you can count on at this Argentinian cooking class in Bristol is cooking the recipes yourself, in a group, and eating them at the end.

It is a cookery class, not a demonstration. You prepare and cook with the ingredients and equipment we provide, and the finished food becomes dinner for everyone at the communal tables. If you have never cooked Argentinian food before, that is fine; nobody is expected to arrive knowing the recipes.

  • Classic Argentinian recipes, menu confirmed per session
  • Hands-on cooking in a group of no more than 12
  • A sit-down meal made from what you cooked
  • Leftovers to take home, so bring a container

How the class runs

Allow 2.5 to 3 hours including the meal. Evening classes start at 6:00 pm. You bring no ingredients, no equipment and no apron; all of that is here. Your place is confirmed on payment, and dietary requirements are accommodated where we can if you tell us when you book.

The shape of the evening is simple. Bring a container for leftovers and a bottle if you would like a drink while you cook, because the classes are BYO. Recipes are emailed after the class on request, so this Argentinian cooking class in Bristol gives you something to cook again at home without relying on memory.

  • 1. Arrive at the school on Gloucester Road and settle in with your group.
  • 2. Cook the recipes with the ingredients and kit provided.
  • 3. Sit at the long communal tables and eat what you made together.

Related classes at Cooking It

If you are comparing, the Spanish cooking classes and Italian cooking classes are the natural neighbours to an Argentinian cookery class, given Argentina's heavy Italian and Spanish influence. Each has its own class pages and dates, and all three are South American or Mediterranean cooking with a lot of shared technique.

All the cuisine pages are on all our cuisine classes, and the wider programme is on adult classes. The class is on Gloucester Road in Bishopston, north Bristol, a short bus ride from the city centre.

Questions people ask

  • What do you cook in an Argentinian cooking class?

Classic Argentinian recipes, with the menu set per session. Ask us for the current menu before you book if you want the dishes for your date. Argentinian cooking is known for beef, chimichurri, empanadas and dulce de leche, but that describes the cuisine, not a guarantee for a particular session.

  • How much is the Argentinian class and when is the next date?

£75 a person. There is no confirmed next date at the moment: check the [Argentinian cookery class](/classes/argentinian) page, where new dates are listed and you book online by card, or use [contact](/contact) to ask.

  • Is the class suitable for vegetarians?

Vegetarian requirements can be accommodated where possible at this Argentinian cooking class in Bristol. Tell us when you book, and ask for the session menu so we can check what can be adapted. We would rather confirm than promise a substitution we have not looked at.

  • Can I bring wine?

Yes. Adult classes are BYO, so bring a bottle if you want a drink while you cook. We provide the ingredients, equipment and aprons, not the drinks. The class lasts 2.5 to 3 hours, including cooking and the meal.

  • Can we book it privately for a group?

Yes. The same class runs as a private event for hen dos, stag dos, birthdays and corporate team building. See [private group bookings](/parties) or [corporate team building](/corporate), then [contact Cooking It](/contact) about format and dates.
