Two ways to cook Spanish at Cooking It in Bishopston: sharing plates, or a three-course sit-down. From £85 a person, everything provided.
A Spanish cooking class Bristol customers can book at Cooking It comes in two flavours. There is a sharing-plate evening of tapas and pintxos, and there is a three-hour Spanish classics masterclass built around fideuà, chicken and Basque burnt cheesecake. Both run at our independent cookery school at 37 Gloucester Road, Bishopston, Bristol BS7 8AD.
Paul, our head chef, teaches most of the European classes. You work in a group of no more than 12 with ingredients, equipment and aprons provided, then sit at the long communal tables and eat what you made. Prices start at £85 a person.
SOLD OUTThe tapas and pintxos class is about lots of small dishes to share. If you are after a tapas cooking class in Bristol, the current menu looks like this:
You cook them as a group and then pass them round the table, which is the point of tapas. It suits every level, first-timers included. The Spanish classics masterclass is a different animal. You build a sofrito, the slow-cooked onion, garlic and tomato base most Spanish dishes start from, season with paprika and saffron-style spice, use good stock to carry the flavour, and cook fideuà in a wide pan. Fideuà is paella's noodle cousin: same pan, same sofrito, noodles instead of rice. Then chicken (pollo en pepitoria or pollo al ajillo) and a Basque burnt cheesecake. No tapas in sight.
Either class takes 2.5 to 3 hours including the meal. Evening sessions start at 6:00 pm, weekend daytime sessions at 10:30 am or 12:30 pm. The 2.5 to 3 hours includes the cooking and the meal.
Bring a container, because leftovers go home with you. Recipes are emailed after the class if you ask. The classes are BYO, so bring a bottle if you would like a drink while you cook. Tell us about dietary requirements when you book and we will accommodate them where we can.
Paul, our head chef, teaches most of the European classes, and the class is hands-on throughout with 12 people at most.
The tapas and pintxos class suits all skill levels. Adult classes are for ages 16 and over. It is hands-on, so you do the preparation rather than watch someone else do it, and you leave having practised the techniques and eaten the results.
Choosing between the two: tapas gives you lots of small plates and an optional glass of Spanish wine. Spanish classics gives you a proper sit-down of fideuà, chicken and cheesecake. Same format either way.
Both classes work as a date night or a night out with friends: you cook side by side and then eat at the same table. If you are buying for someone else, a gift voucher covers either class.
Adult classes are for ages 16 and over, and dietary requirements are accommodated where possible if you tell us when you book.
If you are choosing a Spanish cooking class Bristol wide as a gift, either class can be bought as a voucher.
The Spanish Tapas and Pintxos Cookery Class is £85 a person and the next dates are listed on its class page. The Spanish Classics Masterclass is £95, and the next date we have is Wednesday 9 September 2026 at 6:00 pm. Either one is a Spanish cooking class in Bristol you book on the Spanish Tapas and Pintxos Cookery Class or Spanish Classics Masterclass page, or browse all upcoming dates.
Pay by card through Stripe and your place is confirmed. Either class can be bought as a gift voucher, and both run privately for hen and stag parties or corporate team building. Cooking It has taught for about ten years and has 4.9 stars from over 230 Google reviews. Booking questions: contact us.
If Spain is one option among several, look at our Italian cooking classes or the French cooking class. All the cuisine pages are on all our cuisine classes, and the wider programme, sorted by format rather than country, is on adult cookery classes.
Not under that name. We teach fideuà in the Spanish Classics Masterclass, which is paella's noodle cousin: a wide pan, sofrito, paprika, saffron-style seasoning and stock, with noodles instead of rice. The same class covers chicken and Basque burnt cheesecake.
Tapas and pintxos (£85) is small sharing dishes: garlic prawns, patatas bravas, tortilla española, chorizo in red wine and Basque pintxos. Spanish Classics (£95, three hours) is a sit-down menu of fideuà, pollo en pepitoria or pollo al ajillo, and Basque burnt cheesecake.
The tapas and pintxos class includes an optional glass of Spanish wine. Beyond that the classes are BYO, so bring your own bottle if you want a drink while you cook. That applies to both Spanish classes.
Yes. The tapas and pintxos class is for all skill levels and the class is hands-on from the start. Adult classes are for ages 16 and over, and ingredients, equipment and aprons are provided. Tell us about dietary requirements when you book.
Yes. It runs as a private event for hen dos, stag dos, birthdays and corporate team building. Use the [parties](/parties) page for social groups or [corporate](/corporate) for work events. The format is the same, with a maximum of 12 people per group.
